Avon Elementary School Tuition Program
 
The Avon-by-the-Sea Board of Education is authorized by N.J.S.A. 18A: 38-3 to admit students who are not residents (nonresidents) in the Avon-by-the-Sea School District and may agree to accept nonresident students in Kindergarten through Grade Eight subject to requirements, terms, and conditions of the Tuition Policy (

5111.01 Tuition for Nonresident Pupils).

 
The Tuition Program is offered for the purpose of encouraging and enhancing the academic and social-emotional environment for resident students. Expected availability for 2016-2017 Academic Year:
  • Grade K (Class of 2025)
  • Grade 1 (Class of 2024)
  • Grade 2 (Class of 2023)
  • Grade 3 (Class of 2022)
  • Grade 5 (Class of 2020)
  • Grade 8 (Class of 2017)
Tuition Acceptance/Admission Process 
  1. Submit a Letter of Intent
    • Letters of Intent may be submitted at any time
    • Typically, there are two entry points for admission to Avon Elementary School as a tuition student. Students will be admitted for Marking Period One (first day of school) or Marking Period 3 (mid-January)
    • If there is NOT availability in a grade level (reference Tuition Program Policy), Avon School will contact  families who have submitted a Letter of Intent once there is availability in the grade level
    • All interested applicants will be placed in a pool of candidates until the next screening

  2. Submit a Tuition Application with the required non-refundable Application Fee and artifacts
  3. Avon school administration review student records
  4. Qualified students undergo an on-campus screening
  5. Review of screening results by administration
  6. Parent/Guardian will be notified as to acceptance status (Tuition Agreement)
  7. Students who are not accepted may reapply at a later time
  8. If accepted, standard Registration Requirements apply
Please note:
  • While Avon Board of Education Policy allows admission of tuition students in any class with enrollment under 18 in Grades K-2 and 20 in Grades 3-8, only qualified students will be admitted
  • Tuition acceptance is based on the information gathered from the student record review and the admission guidelines stated in the Tuition Policy. The needs of existing students will also be considered when deciding if the addition of tuition student(s) is beneficial to the class
  • There are two entry points for admission to Avon Elementary School as a tuition student. Students will be admitted for Marking Period One (first day of school) or Marking Period 3 (mid-January)
Important Dates for September Admission
  1. Applications for Marking Period 1 (September) enrollment will be accepted from May 01 through July 15
  2. Readiness screening will take place prior to the August Board of Education meeting
  3. Superintendent will make recommendation to the Board of Education for acceptance at the August Board of Education meeting, followed by written notification to parent/guardian of acceptance or non-acceptance
Important Dates for January Admission
  1. Applications for Marking Period 3 (January) enrollment will be accepted from September 01 through November 15
  2. Readiness screening will take place prior to the December Board of Education meeting
  3. Superintendent will make recommendation to the Board of Education for acceptance at the December Board of Education meeting, followed by written notification to parent/guardian of acceptance or non-acceptance
